Art Exhibition – Elina Ioan ‘London Series’
July 7 @ 11:00 am - July 19 @ 7:00 pm
ELINA IOAN in her own words: ‘Ever since I could remember myself, I used to hold a pencil and draw everywhere even in every single of my school books. After I finished high school it didn’t took me long to decide that I want to study Fine Arts and Art History. Art history had influenced me the most because I saw that artists were using the white canvas as a way to express and confess their emotions and in a way that words can’t describe but colors do. So for me painting is a way of ‘’talking’’ to the people who view my art without having me to say much about.
I choose to use black and white colors as I believe they are more dramatic and they show more detail and also it helps the eye to focus more to the main subject of the painting. Also I like to use just a touch of color to the main subject of the painting to make the whole painting more exciting and intriguing to the eye.
I like to draw and paint architectural landscapes and also scenes with people that look lonely or erotic. With the combination of the black and white paint the make the whole canvas to look like you want to escape too to that lonely and quiet environment.
This exhibition is about the London’s iconic landscapes and is all in a black and white color. Also some paintings have the London skyline with black and shades of grey while the background has been painted with bright colors in order to highlight the skyline more. The paint used is a combination of acrylic and oil paint. I have choose London because I have always loved the Victorian buildings and the way they mixed the old with the new. Their architecture is fascinating and beautiful and this is what I have tried to transfer to my London series.’
